Which Is More Important, Hubber Score or Traffic?
72Why my Hubber score is low?
Some hubbers tend to be very anxious about their hubber score than thinking about the traffic on their hubs. If their hubber score is low, it seems a very big deal for them. But which is supposed to be of serious concern for a hubber, the hubber score or the traffic to his hubs?
Me I'm Okay
The importance of high hubberscore
Just as our hubs has hubscores to designate the quality of our hubs, our over all performance as a hubber is designated by our hubberscores. While we are not sure what are the basis on how hubpages gives the scores, we are sure it has something to do with the quality of our hubs, our proper participation in the community, the traffic and the respond of readers to our hubs.
I think it is best explain in this way; "do good and your hubber score will be good, do better and your hubber score will be better, do the best and your hubber score will be the best"
And of course if you do bad, your hubber score will go down.
What are the benefits of having a high hubber score?
- If your hubber score is high you will be encourage to work harder.
- It can also be one reason that other hubbers will take interest to read your hubs, leave a comment and follow you.
What is traffic?
Traffic is actually the visitors who come to visit and read your hubs. They may come from within the hubpages community and from the SERP or search engines results page. If you want to check your traffic sources you can go to your account, see the left side bar and click the traffic sources, and there you will know how many visitors came to visit your hubs. You will notice how many visitors from hubpages, google.com, google.com.ph, google.co.in, google.co.uk, google.ca, yahoo and bing and so on and so forth.

We know of many talented poets here in Hubpages, they composed different types of poems with strong and powerful meanings. But do all these poets who are hard working earn revenue from their poems? - Tips For New Hubbers: How To Avoid Discouragement In Writing Articles In Hub pages?
Discouragement is a normal process of success but it can stop us from reaching our goal.As a hubber we can be discourage at times that is why we need to know how to avoid discouragement in writing articles in hub pages? - Tips For New Hubbers: How To Develop The Art Of Commenting?
Why do we need to develop the art of commenting? How important it is? - Tips For New Hubbers: Who Do I follow And Who Do I Not ?
When I was a beginner I don't know anything about who to follow and why I will follow hubbers that commented in my hubs. I just thought it is good to follow everyone. When I came back to Hubpages after a year of absence I decided to read and explore
The importance of traffic
- If hubbers will visit your hubs they are part of the traffic. But remember fellow hubbers will never click your ads. You will not earn a single penny from them. But surely your hub can make a good reputation and good ranking if hubbers will vote up or leave a positive feed back.
- What about if your traffic comes from other reputable sources such as what I mentioned above? Traffic from the outside can give the same benefit you get from the traffic you had from hubbers. The difference is that you can earn revenue from the traffic who search your hubs from the search engines.
- And the more traffic you have from the search engine, the more revenue you can earn. Why? because they are people who actually are looking for the answers to their questions. They are actually clients, buyers or costumers who are visiting your hub having the intention to buy products. Their wallet is ready so to speak. They may not leave comments but there is a possibility that they will click your ads or may choose to buy from Amazon or Ebay.
For example: If someone is looking for a burglar alarm and they will find your article about that, chances are there that either they will click adsense, ebay or amazon. And that's why traffic is important if we need to earn revenue from our hubs
But how can you increase or drive traffic in your articles?
Over and over again we are told to make a unique, high quality article with good keywords that people are searching for. High quality articles with well-researched keywords can even stand alone as money makers even without backlinking. But if you like to optimise, promote and backlink your article with other strategies you know to increase traffic in your hubs then it would be better.
Which is more important to you?
See results without votingSo traffic from all sources has an impact on how your hubber scores will be rated. Remember your hubber score has nothing to do with driving traffic from the SERP to your articles and earning revenues. So hubbers must be concern most not on their hubber scores but how to drive traffic in their articles. Even our hubber scores are high if it is only because other hubbers came to vote and leave comments, you can not earn revenues if you don’t have traffic from the search engine. So if traffic is important to you, then you are shooting two birds with just one arrow, your ranking and your revenue.
It is good to have a high hubber score but it is better to increase traffic. And the best of all is when they go together. So continue driving traffic in your hubs and you will see how your hubber score will smile with you.

I appreciate the information you gave in this piece. Very helpful for newbies and those who might need to be reminded. A lot of numbers to digest when you first come on board so this is extremely helpful in sorting it all out.
Thanks again!
Johnny
You have done good work. I am working on improving my content. I think the real answer is to try to improve in the areas where you are weak and keep streching in the writing process.
I don't think this will come over night but it will come with effort being made.
Each Hub will be the best you can do.
I go for both because I want some people to be continual readers and help spread the word to their own networks. But to get people to show up and have a decent hub score, you need to get people to show up. So both are dependent on each other.
Well money illustrations is given in the article! Can you highlight on what the top ways to maintain hubber score although I am writing the quality content!
Traffic and it is not even close. After all traffic can increase the hubber score but I doubt that hubberscore has any meaningful effect on traffic. Also traffic is what creates revenue for bot the author and hubpages plus it is nice to know that people read what you have to share.
Interesting hub, well done!
i think traffic is better than score. But score depends on traffic. Isn't it
Very well written article and very true. I too have gotten caught up in the worry about scores when really the traffic is the bottom line. Thanks for writing!
Thanks Hilly, this was a very informative hub.
I often talk about this subject in my blog and it always seems that people obsess way too much over their hubberscore rather than seeing the whole process of creating traffic serving both HubPages and themselves the best.
Thanks for adding a little enlightenment to the sometimes mysterious world of HubPages.
Thanks a lot! You have cleared up things a bit for me in my mind. I'm still not really understanding how exactly to go out and create traffic outside of Hubpages. People say what to do, but they don't get specific enough for me! I'm a bit dense on this stuff.
very useful and interesting hub :)
Good hub, thank you. And, you're correct in influence the positive effect of getting outside traffic. The quality of the hubs will speak for themselves with the score ranking, but we all want the traffic. Have a good week!
Nice Hub i am new here and i find this hub really useful.
So very interesting! I love the pictures :)
Thanks for sharing this HUB. Each time I read this I pick up another tip. You have been a wonder worker for me
Stay Well
Great info! I will keep them in mind!
Thanks for sharing.
I like the image of the monkey which is the hardworking one. You know it is good to feel that you have a high score hub but you must work for it. like what you have said, making quality of articles and writings in your hubpage is necessary that increases traffic and hub scores too. Learning is important one and in this case, I have learned form your hub. Thank you for sharing these with us. Keep up the good work.
Very useful information bring that I'm new to Hubbing. Thanks a lot!!
Great Hub, thank you.
Great analysis! Thank you for posting this hub.I have shared this, with my friends. Useful and voted up!
You are welcome yellow2mato, pls take your time to go round hubpages because there is a lot to follow to help you. If you check you would see I just joined few days also.
I just joined yesterday, so this is great information for me. I didn't understand, though, about fellow hubbers not clicking on your ads. I clicked on an ad from a hub I read yesterday and have already received a response from the company with information. I'll need to do more reading to find out if I shouldn't do that.
Thank you for this! I was so clueless before reading- I thought my hubscore was the only thing I had to look at. I didn't even know how to check traffic. Also, a lot of the comments here are very helpful so thanks to everyone for sharing your personal experiences.
very nice and helpful Thank you
Great hub! I recently wrote a hub about keeping the hubber score high, and I think that traffic is an important part of that, as you indicate. It all goes together, and the most important thing is writing well and learning about SEO and all that, too. Good information here. Voted useful, interesting, and UP!
Thanks for the great info!
Give me the traffic! Traffic king... well good traffic ;-)
In my case - hubscore and traffic seem not to have no connection. Hubscore for me bears no relationship to what is happening in that the highest score can have far lower traffic than a hub with a hubscore. I have even had a seasonal hub sitting there with the highest score when it has completely 'gone off the boil'. So now I just ignore the numbers as they do not mean anything to me.
This is a very helpful hubpage for a hubber like me who have just started posting some new articles. I was also confused on whether Hubber score or traffic. Thanks for this nice post.
Thanks much, will look forward to your next hub.
I'm looking forward to back linking. Great Hub I voted you up.
Awesome hub, explained all the fine points so nicely. Defintely a great hub for beginners like me. But one thing I would like to know about is the reason for fluctuations of the hub scores and hubber scores many times in a day. Sometimes it just shoots up and then again goes down, which makes it really confusing to pin point the exact cause. Any idea what cause such fluctuations in a single day?
Its a beautiful and a 5 star article. I do love it as a beginner.thanks
Very informative and eye opening. You obviously practice what you have learned.
Quite an eye opener. A lot of hubbers may much attention to the hubberscore at the detriment of the hubscore. There should be a balance. Thanks once again for the great tips.
Right after reading this helpful hub, Mila, I directly went to the "keywordtool" I tried using it, following instruction to the letter. I used words such as scabies, spread, reproduce, medicine from my published hub about scabies on the keywordtool, focusing my attention on keywords with low and medium competition and with lots of global and local searches as well. I did find keywords which I deem appropriate to use so as to edit said hub to render it more conducive to receive more hub traffic.
The problem confronting me, Mila, is: Are the keywords in words or phrases as they appear in the keywordtool to be used as is in the actual edition or editing of my scabies hub. For instance, the keyword "symtoms of scabies" shall be included in my revised hub as is. I need your help!
Hey Hillymillydee, thanks for information. These particular topics seem to push traffic because I guess everyone is looking for a way of improving what they do on here. I have enjoyed reading this.
I think both has their own advantages ..Thanks for that
This is extremely helpful. I am fairly new to this site so I have been looking for information on things like hubscore, traffic, and earning money. This hub covers it all for me. Thanks!
Very good information, I have focused mostly on traffic, and it seems to be working fairly well for me. I just hope that the visitors to my hubs leave with a bit of knowledge they didn't posses before visiting, or at the very least they have something to ponder.
Thank you, thank you for such an informative article. So helpful, especially for a beginner like me.
That was useful information But I am not really good at finding good keywords that the search engines may find.
I did not know clicks from hubbers would not be paid. Good to know - we have to be visible from google or other search engines... Thanks for sharing.
You are absolutely right! Driving traffic to our hubs is more important than earning higher scores. This will be really helpful for the new Hubbers.
Traffic, traffic, where it comes from where it goes...Still a million things to learn about this one...Thanks for the uplifting story to keep on writing. Even when we quit sometimes, we can come back and have such wonderful people still here for us, wonderful!
Thanks for the insight into hubbing I have just started and was curious about the number on my pic that i have on here and you pointed it out for me thank you and I should get to researching something that not everyone is talking about thanks
Great hub, Hillymillydee. This is most enlightening for those of us who are still a bit green. Thanks for sharing
Hey thanks for sharing your thoughts.
you explained it well.
Thank you for the Info hillymillydee. That what I am doing right now, I have never really written serious hubs which needed some research- aside from my hobby which is programming but hopefully it is on the way after all my time consuming projects. Not many hubbers are interested on this niche but in my short time here on hubpages I have been receiving traffic from google and I just discovered that almost all of my hubs either belong to the google's first page or on the first rank. Nah I am so ecstatic to discover it.
Hopefully, I'll have a bright future here on hubpages as a writer and blogger.
voted and rated it useful. :) keep on advising and inspiring new hubbers like me.
Great Hub and thanks for the tips.
Thanks for the timely advice for new hubbers!
I like how you noted the importance of both local traffic (hubbers) and external traffic being those who are likely to click the ads.
Thanks for a great, informative article. I'm really, new here (extremely wet behind the ears!) and I need all the help I can get! Cheers.
You are right as well. More traffic to see our hubs more earnings
Its a very good question you have asked. Traffic will take you around the hubpages community and even take you beyond here but as for hubber score(s) is just what gets you going to achieve your aims which is"traffiic"
Very informative. I would that traffic is by far more important.
very useful and informative hub.
Interesting!hubpages with good people and great avenue.Thank you very much for sharing your own useful idea with me,I have really gained a lot from what you have shared...Keep the fire burning.
Thanks for sharing important information regarding hubscore!
Thanks hillymillydee, for writing this hub. Though I am a member of hubpages for several moths, but could never understand how to make money as a successful hubber. Your post is definitely helpful to many of us
Great hub, I've always wondered how this works.
Too cute monkeys! A lot of great info for new Hubbers like me. I didn't know that there was such a thing as a Hubscore. I guess that's the number at the top of each HP. I'm reading everything I can to learn about HP an being a good Hubber. Many thanks. Stop by and visit one of my HP if you get a chance and let me know what you think. Great future ahead for you.
I just took another look at your peice and was impressed once again. Each time I was able to learn more I am about the business of trying to learn all I can, and who is better than you?
Stay Well
More than the hub score i think one should worry about building traffic to his hubs from other sources. I don't see any apparent benefit with having a higher hub score.
Good work! I am new to the game and need all the help I can get and this was very helpful.
Stay Well
Very interesting and informative tipic.
Thanks for the insight, I must admit to being a bit confused by how it all works.
You are most welcome hillymillydee. hub number 5 now. Check the thread. cheers.
I'm a new hubber and I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you for this hub.
What a great article loaded with important information. I SO appreciate the terrific advice, so much so, that I am going to print this out. There is so much to learn, and I cherish any information shared from hubbers. THANK YOU. Blessings always, Sparklea :)
Thank you for clearing that up. I was actually just wondering how important a hubscore is. This is a great hub for newcomers like me :)
Thanks for answering the question I hadn't asked aloud.
Starting from pictures....they are really great! and lovely too...You just explained the whole hubpages help guide in an single hub. The way you differentiated the importance of hubscore and traffic is really great and i loved the way you explained. It is so simple and perfect words are expressed with key things about what should be great or what should be done to be great to reach the importance of hubpages community!
Really great work. Voted up! Thanks for sharing..
Thanks for sharing. The hub is informative.Hub score is important for, it makes other people to stop and read the our hubs. The quote and monkey's pictures are nice. Best wishes.
You have a great analysis on the differences between your hubscore and traffic. I think people tend to get a bit obsessed with their hubberscores because no one wants a bad score. However, it is important to maintain traffic in order for people to be reading your hubs and get new visitors to your articles. It took a while to figure it all out, and I am still learning as I go along. When I first started, all my traffic was from other hubbers. It took some time, but now most of my traffic comes from google.
I am pretty sure this hub was made to answer my question.
Hubber score Vs more traffic
Is it important to have a higher hubber score or have more traffic when it comes to earning in hub pages?
If it is so, then all I can say is "hillymillydee" what have I done to receive a full hub answering my question. This is more than I asked for and I m so glad to know great writers like you who can a tiny pieces of idea into great information for every one.
Useful and voted up. SHARING with my friends.
BTW my 30/30 is going so smoothly and traffic I have been getting for the last four days is unbelievable. Thanks to you again for showing me the way out.
I agree with J.S. You have covered the subject very well. High quality hubs that people like to read are the key to success with or without money. Traffic can get you where you want to go! Voted up and useful. Thanks for SHARING.
You have broken the process down very well! I like the monkey images you used to express productivity! The best quote from this Hub is: "Do good and your hubber score will be good, do better and your hubber score will be better, do the best and your hubber score will be the best..." Great illustration!
Although my score has dropped, I maintain a level of traffic both from the site and the search engines that I am happy with. My income has continued to grow and I am now focusing on quality content rather than followers.
I have to say I was one time a 95+ HubberScore but paid a penalty when I started pasting the same comment in fan mail after I followed new people. I was doing it just to get followers and didn't write enough Hubs. You have described the balance for being a great Hubber as a commentor and also for self production.
I am looking forward to regaining my position as a top Hubber and applaud you for this truthful article. Very well said, voting up and SHARING!
