Physical symptoms of depression and anxiety are harder to detect than emotional and anxiety symptoms. Sometimes depression sufferers ignore the fact that they can suffer from physical problems too. It is because these physical pains are the same with body pains associated with other illnesses. But how can we know if what we are experiencing are physical symptoms of depression and anxiety?

Some possible physical symptoms of depression and anxiety

1. Sleeping problems; This physical symptom can go to both extreme; either you can’t sleep anymore or you sleep more than normal.

2. Headaches that can be worse than just ordinary headaches

3. Digestive problems; You are constipated or the other way around. This can include gastrointestinal problems, such as nausea, constipation, or diarrhea.

4. Lower back pain. If you are already suffering from back pains, depression can make this worse.

5. Lose or gain weight. You lose weight because you lost appetite or you gain weight because you crave for more food especially carbohydrates.

6. Dizziness which is due to lack of sleep and lost of appetite. Your body seem to be floating and you experience some fainting attempts.

7. Fatigue and tiredness. You are always tired even you just woke up in the morning and that’s why you feel lazy for activities including your own normal routine.

8. Chest Pain; You can experience difficulty in breathing and palpitations. But notice that not all chest pains can be a symptoms for depression it can be cause by heart problems but depression can contribute to such pain.

9. Muscles and joint pain; These pains could be worse than what you normally feel

10. Loss of energy and feeling of weakness

11. Blurred vision due to muscular weakness

12. Restlessness and lack of concentration

Physical symptoms of depression and anxiety can make big a difference in your body. If these physical symptoms are combine with emotional symptoms, it can create in the life of a depressed person a double jeopardy. Physical symptoms of depression as well as emotional symptoms of depression must not be ignored. If you are feeling these physical symptoms together with the emotional signs of depression you are in need of help.

Thank you for your article. You have said a number of interesting things. I find that if I keep busy with hobbys and my house and my flower gardens it is easier to get thru the SAD days, not just sit around and watch tv like many people do. When I see something I have accomplished like a room that got messy and I finally took the time to straightened it up, it even makes me feel better everytime I walk into it. B........

Good article, it just confirmed that i was depressed. Now i can feel justifiably sick and lazy. Lyfe is boring
