Sad Poems About Life:Like Mother Like Daughter Poem

By hillymillydee

I like sad poems about life that's why I compose them. I found this "like mother like daughter poem" a touching poem for mothers. It has a moral lesson about family and parenting, about mother and daughter relationship. Sometimes we neglect the most important things we can give to our child. Giving their physical needs is important but child needs much more than that as this poem goes on to say;

I hope readers will like this poem and will pick up the moral lesson that the poet had in mind while composing.

She Will Be Just Like Me

My life changed a lot
when I turned late twenty.
Gifted with a baby
so cute and so lovely.
When I looked at her face,
she looked the same as me
A mother I became
I was happy to be.

I bought her a crib,
toys and games to play,
As I do my home chores
oh! what a busy day!
When she cried in her room,
all she needed was me,
But I said,
"my baby I'm sorry I can't stay"

All the time she would say,
"mom can you please play with me?"
I just said "not this time,
just keep watching TV"
I knew she will be fine,
I knew she'll be okay.
Everything she needed
I gave her anyway.

The years had gone fast,
a little child she was.
I remember those times,
she always need my hugs.
But I said,
"my baby, I have no time for that
I must go to work
and buy you what you want.."

Everyday when I left,
I knew she's feeling sad.
In baby sitters hand,
she was crying out loud.
But I said:
"tonight, I'll bring you a surprise
A pretty barbie doll,
that I know you will love."

She replied "yes mommy, I' ll be happy for that
but much more that I like,
is to sit on you lap.
To watch me when I play,
to hug me in your arms.
To tell if I'm good,
when I sing and I dance."

Now school days are here,
my little girl must go.
With her teacher and friends,
she'll enjoy it I know.,
Just left her alone
the way she was trained to.
I know she's just like me,
she knows just what to do.

One day I saw her smile,
as she's looking at me.
Trying hard to speak,
she has something to say.
I was happy to hear,
she's feeling good today.
And she uttered some words,
she will be just like me.

"Yes my girl I agree,
like your mom you will be
Like mother like daughter
you will be just like me"
Now she's a teenager,
She really looks like me.
But though she is at home,
she seem so far away.

When I asked her one day,
"come here and sit with me,"
She waved her hand and said,
"mom I am busy today."
I must catch up my friends,
we are going faraway.
I will pack up my things,
for long long journey.

My heart was pinched,
why she's acting strange.
She just left me alone,
as I sat on the bench.
I was wondering why
she was always with friends?
She has no time for me
all her days were arranged.

Now she just turned eighteen,
she moved away from me
Her absence's telling me,
I missed her so lately.
So I picked up the phone,
to know if how is she?
She said mom,
"don't worry I'll always be okay."

I said, "Oh! my daughter
I miss you don't you know?"
she replied and said,
I'm sorry I must go,
I cannot make it now,
I have something to do,
I will see when I'm back,
if I have time for you."

And now I realize,
those words are just for me.
Those times she used to say,
shell grow up just like me.
She fulfilled that promise,
in an unexpected way,
Now I cannot blame her,
if she's doing it to me

I spoiled my daughter,
she lived in luxury.
Gave her all what she wanted,
I satisfied her day.
But I did miss one thing,
a child's necessity,
My love and attention,
my care and empathy.

Now that she's grown up,
it bounces back to me.
Too late to realize,
she's far away from me.
she was so right to say,
those words she always said,
When she'll grow up someday...
"SHE WILL BE JUST LIKE ME"

Very beautiful. The most important thing to any child is their parents. Things will come and things will go. But the love of your parents are priceless. Great poem

Humbly Mum,

Yes spending time with our children is always the best thing we can ever do to let our child feel how much we love them. Thanks for leaving a useful comment.

Thank you for sharing. Spending time with my son is always at the front of my mind. I have to work, but I make every single moment that I don't, count. It's poems like this that reinforce my mindset. I don't go out with friends, I don't take time for me. I do what I have to do for myself during nap time and after bed time. I always think to myself..."He only has one childhood".

Not much understanding on the lyrics but the video on the locals and mountains makes you wish you were home.

Haha yes TENKAY,

Unfortunately, my producer didn't upload all my songs I don't know why. I saw some before but they removed it.

Anyway, if they will upload it all maybe no one will buy from the store.

That is a funny comedy song. I hope you understood it

I love your poem. I could feel the writer's emotions behind it. How sad childhood would be without a mother's hugs, kisses, and caring presence.

Voted up and beautiful.

Thank you.

beer brain,

Composers sometimes have the same thoughts in mind,it is because the story can be true. I know of a true story about this so I made it a poem.

Thanks a lot for reading and commenting

i like the rhythm but you must have liked the Harry Chapin original Cat's in a Cradle - way to close in message and wording.

Thank you very much Minnetonka twin. I'm happy that someone values this poem. I know exactly how it feels because I grew up without a mother's love and affection. That's why I like to share the thought of this to mothers.

I appreciate your comment and thanks a lot.

This moving poem got me very choked me up. It reminds me of that song from the 70's called, "Cat's in the Cradle" by Cat Stevens. Both this poem and the song, illustrate how easy it is to become so focused on the day to day things that we forget the most important thing which is our children. I think this is something we all struggle with to some degree in this busy society and busy lives. Your poem is a great reminder to keep our priorities in check. I hit all buttons except funny. Wonderful writing.

Hi kakalina,

Thanks again for coming, yes I figure out it will be a nice topic for a poem. This one reason why kids grow up rebellious because they were not shown love and affection when they are younger.

Thanks again

Sad that parents dont realize until its too late that children do not "Need" material items , but the ones gifted to them already through a parents love and affection. Excellant message , i voted up and useful.
